We would like to introduce you to the pleasures of ice-walking all around the Mont Blanc. Each day is a new step, with the aim of reaching a summit in order to pass into the neighbouring valley. You will progress from refuge to refuge in the midst of a mineral world, over slightly sloping glaciers, requiring crampons for walking. The program
STEP 1 /
The evening before - Arrival at your 3* Hotel at Ste Foy.
Meet the Tarentaise Tours team and briefing for the trip.
STEP 2 /
Day 1 - Organisation of the equipment and bags before the departure for the Chapieux valley for your first climb to your refuge for the night: Robert Blanc Refuge. Around 800 m of uneven surfaces for a gentle start.
STEP 3 /
Day 2 Early-morning departure from the refuge to reach the?? des Glaciers for a training session on cramponing up to the Petite Aiguille des Glaciers (alt: 3465 m). From here you begin your descent towards the Col de la Seigne, to reach the Valveny Valley in Italy. Just a little more effort and you will reach your shelter at the foot of the South Face of the Mont Blanc and the mythical Aiguille Noire de Peuterey. What a wonderful panorama for your first night !
STEP 4 /
Day 3 - After a rapid transfer, you will take a cable-car ride from Courmayeur to reach the Pointe Helbronner at 3462 m. You are in the heart of the Mont Blanc Massif. Just put your crampons on and cross over the White Valley to reach the French side of the Aiguille du Midi, at 3842 m. An amazing walk in the midst of some large summits and peaks: Giant’s Tooth, Les Drus, Mont Blanc du Tacul, les Grandes Jorasses...Definitely one of the most beautiful days of your week. After a few minutes spent enjoying the unique panorama from the Aiguille du Midi, you will reach the Plan de l'Aiguille for a night in the refuge, just under the Aiguilles de Chamonix. A high-mountain experience that you won’t forget in a hurry.
STEP 5 /
Day 4 - Give your legs a rest for the day, and set off gently for a cable-car ride down towards Chamonix for a transfer to Contamines-Montjoie. From here, you will set off again for the high summits towards the Tré La Tête Refuge. Approximately 2hrs of forest walking and night spent at the Tré la Tête Refuge.
STEP 6 /
Day 5 - Early-morning departure from the Refuge. After crossing the “Mauvais Pas”, you will step onto the Tré la Tête Glacier and discover the magnificent glacier cirque surrounded by some imposing summits: Tré la Tête, Dômes de Miage, Aiguille des Glaciers... you will then attack the Mont Tondu glacier to reach its summit at an altitude of 3170 m from where you will admire a breath-taking panorama. Now, simply enjoy the last descent via the Col du Tondu back to your departure point: the Chapieux valley.
