The legendary
haute route linking Chamonix to Zermatt
The most famous ski tour of the Alps, inaugurated in 1903 by guides from Chamonix, it connects the two capitals of mountaineering with passes and glacier crossings. The beauty of the landscapes encountered makes it one of the best known ski touring raids.
This raid remains a serious goal and requires a good experience and a good physical condition.

The program
STEP 1 /
After meeting your guide in Argentière, head for the Grand Montets cable car (3300m).
A short descent of the Rognons glacier leads us to the Argentière glacier where put the skins on towards the Argentière hut (2771m).
The rest of the day you will review ski touring techniques, the use of crampons, and safety rules (avalanche rescue).

Difference in height +: 225m / Difference in height -: 750m
STEP 2 /
After a good night in a refuge, we put the skis on for a short descent to the moraine du Passon (2380m).
We put the skins on until the foot of the Passon pass (3028m), which we finish with crampons.
We then ski under the north face of the Aiguille du Chardonnet and put the skins back on to reach the Col Supérieur du Tour (3290m).
We now ski in Switzerland on the Glacier du Trient, after a short cramped ascent, we reach the Col des Ecandies (2795m).
A magnificent descent in the Val d'Arpette leads us to the village of Champex (1480m) where we spend the night.

STEP 3 /
After a transfer by mini bus we are at the Verbier ski area, the ski lifts approach us at the bottom of the Col de la Chaux (2940m).
The day continues with the Col Momin (3000m) and up to the foot of the Rosablanche (3335m) that can be climbed back and then down to the cabin of Prafleuri (2660m)
STEP 4 /
We put the skis on early in the morning to go up to the Col des Roux (2805m).
A long crossing leads us to the end of the Lac des Dix, then it's a new ascent by the Pas du Chat (2385m), which will bring us to the Cabane des Dix where we spend the night (2928m).
Elevation gain + 850m / Elevation gain - 400m
STEP 5 /
A quick descent takes us to the Tsena Refien Glacier that we go back up to reach the Pigne d'Arolla (3795m), crossing the Serpentine Passage can request the use of crampons.
From the top of the Pigne d'Arolla the view of the Alps will remain in your memory, the descent of the south face leads us to the Vignettes hut (3160m)
STEP 6 /
A short descent takes us to the wide Mont-Colon Glacier that leads up to the Col de l'Evèque (3390m).
We skate the upper Glacier d'Arolla to the Virgin, we stick skins to climb the Col du Mont Brulé we finish in crampons, then a short descent and we chained with the Col de Valpelline (3555m) or we begin the long descent on Zermatt by skiing at the foot of the north face of the tooth of Hérens (4170m) and the Matterhorn (4478m), to finish at the pasture of Furi and the village of Zermatt in the afternoon.
